So, you've browsed through the gallery and thought about commissioning a pet or person portrait from me, how do you place an order?

HOW TO ORDER.

Simply send me an email, or message me via facebook, whichever is most convenient for you, letting me have your ideas for your painting, and of course the pets name! I am an absolute animal lover and really enjoy hearing about your pet's antics, so if choose to boast about how fabulous your pet is or share some stories, bring it on - I'm all ears!

I'm now also taking commissions for "Non-Furry" portraits, perfect for Birthday, Christening or Christmas, etc. gifts. Prices and Postage are the same as Pet Portraits, so please see Prices and Postage for more information.

PHOTOS.

I will need clear photos of the subject, obviously a better quality of photo will allow me to create a more accurate painting of your pet or child, if the photo is too dark, out of focus, blurry or too bright, the finished portrait would not portray the fabulousness of the subject! I do feel that the eyes are very important as they convey the spark and character, so please ensure that the eyes are very clear in the photograph.

If possible, send me multiple photos, which will give me a better idea of the subject's character, true colour and likeness. Please indicate the main/preferred photo that you would like to be transformed into a handpainted portrait in soft pastels, the others I can use as reference.

MULTIPLE SUBJECTS IN ONE PAINTING.

More than one subject on a single painting? I would suggest an A3 painting or larger, with €30 (£25 for UK) cost per additional subject. Please do send me an email with your ideas, so that all options can be explored and you can choose what you want from your painting.

THE PROCESS.

Once I have your photos and guidelines for the portrait, ie. size, etc, I'll proceed with the painting. On completion of the portrait, I will email or message you a digital image of the completed painting, on your reply and receipt of payment, I will make the arrangements to carefully package and post your pastel portrait to you.

TIMING.

I operate on a first come, first served basis for commissions, so if you have a specific date (ie. birthday, etc), that you would like receive the portrait by, please ensure you contact me in good time to avoid disappointment.

Once I have your email and photo(s) for the portrait, I will advise you of my current workload and when you can expect your portrait. The turnaround time is approximately two weeks from the time I start painting, to you actually receiving your portrait.

PAYMENT.

Paypal is the preferred method of payment, it is easy to sign up if you don't already have an account. If however, you choose not to use paypal, please contact me and we can arrange an alternative method.

FRAMING.

I generally send the pastel paintings unframed in a secure, flat foam board wallet, as this keeps postage charges to a minimum, I'll also include framing tips with your portrait. I also think that it's nice for you, the client, to choose your own frame, based on your home decor.

MATERIALS.

To create the portraits I use a combination of high quality soft pastels and stabilo pastel pencils for the finer details, for their light-fastness and intensity of colour. I tend to use Canson Mi-Teintes Pastel Paper or Daler-Rowney Ingres Pastel Paper, both acid-free which allows the portrait to retain it's true colours and avoid the risk of discolouration and deterioration over time.
